A two-week camp held in June, SCATS offers high-ability students who have completed grades 6–8 a unique learning environment to explore new ideas, develop concepts, make friends, and share experiences. Students arrive at the WKU campus from counties around Kentucky, states across the nation, and countries around the world to challenge themselves academically and to meet like-minded peers with diverse backgrounds and interests.

Join us for the second season of the WKU Hilltopper Summer Music Camp and spend an exciting week of study with our distinguished music faculty. From Sunday afternoon registration through the end of camp on Friday, campers will enjoy a nonstop mix of ensemble rehearsals, private lessons and sectional rehearsals, structured recreation, evening entertainment and social activities, and a finale concert on Friday evening.

Sport Science Camp for students in grades 7-12. Hosted by experienced faculty members from our Exercise Science program, this hands-on and engaging camp offers participants the opportunity to have their athletic abilities assessed in a supportive and educational environment. Students will be taught how to measure and evaluate their current performance while also gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities to enhance their performance and maximize their potential.

The Hilltop String Festival is an intensive program housed on the beautiful campus of Western Kentucky University, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Festival offers dedicated string players the opportunity to deepen their musical and instrumental skill through studying with world-renowned faculty members. The program includes lessons, master classes, chamber music, performance opportunities, faculty concerts, practice coaching, and musical enrichment.  

Students will receive:

  • multiple individual private lessons
  • daily technique class
  • daily chamber music coachings
  • masterclass performance opportunities
  • daily musicianship training
  • practice coaching
  • multiple solo and chamber performances
  • performance attendance
