Phantom Pains is a one-act play about a captain who dies at sea and is unable to move on from the guilt of losing his daughter. Until he meets Florence, his granddaughter. Florence gets the family she never had, but soon begins to live her life for the dead and not herself. It’s a play about facing what you’re afraid of, learning to let go, and becoming your true self.
Written and directed by student, Sandie Merena, the production of Phantom Pains is still in its early stages. As a part of an honors capstone, this will be an informal reading that includes a talkback at the end. Please come to meet some ghostly sailors and sing along to the beloved sea shanties they’ve taken to the grave!
This is a free event and is a part of the Rising Artist Series. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
