On November 26 at 1 p.m., WKU’s Hardin Planetarium will host Holiday Telescope Guide, a free, public discussion advising buyers on what to look for in a new telescope, featuring guest speaker Rico Tyler.
Learn about the types of telescopes, how to manage expectations, and which brands tend to be reliable. Tyler has taught astronomy for many years and has collected many telescopes.
The one-hour event will include telescopes with which you can interact and learn.
Planetarium shows: Along with special events such as this, Hardin Planetarium offers presentations to the public at no charge every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The current show is When the Universe Was Young, which explains how it is possible for us to see the universe as it looked more than 13.7 billion years ago. When the Universe Was Young will continue until Nov. 22. The next show, Celebrations for a Long Winter’s Night, will open Nov. 27.
