EPA Method 1030

Ignitability of Solids

This method is suitable for the determination of the ignitability of solids. This method can be used to evaluate hazardous materials prior to disposal.

Sample types

  • Pastes
  • Granular materials
  • Solids that can be cut into strips
  • Powdery substances

Sample size

250mm x 20mm x 10mm strip (x4)

We have a mold for these dimensions if the sample is granular or powdery.

An initial ignitability test is performed. If this test is positive, then a burning rate test is performed. The burn rate test is completed in triplicate.
