Simultaneous Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Thermogravimetric Analysis (SDT)

AMI uses a TA Instruments Discovery SDT 650.

The SDT combines DSC and TGA into one instrument. It measures both heat flow and weight changes in a material as a function of temperature or time under a controlled atmosphere.

Specifications
Temperature Range Ambient to 1500 °C
Dynamic Temperature Precision               ±0.5 °C
Heating Rate (Linear) 0.1 to 100 °C/min
Calorimetric Accuracy/Precision ±2% (based on metal standards)
Heat Capacity Accuracy ±5%
Sample Weight Capacity 200 mg

Typical methods include:

  • ASTM E1868
  • ASTM E2008
  • ASTM D6375
  • ASTM E1131
