Lindsey Turley
Lindsey Turley was born and raised in South Eastern Kentucky. She moved to Lexington, KY to attend the University of Kentucky as a Social Work major in the Fall of 2004. Knowing she wanted to work in the Deaf community she tried to enroll in ASL classes, but to no avail. Through the family she did childcare for she met two women – one CODA and one formally trained – who began tutoring her. She quickly become involved in the Deaf community in Lexington and built great relationships there, which eventually led to her desire to become an ASL interpreter.
After a lot of work in a short amount of time she transferred to Eastern Kentucky University in pursuit of being accepted into their interpreter training program. She was accepted and began her training in the Fall of 2006 and graduated with her B.S. in Interpreting in the Spring of 2008. She began working for Vocational Rehabilitation in Bowling Green, KY after graduation as well as Sorenson. In 2011, a career change was made, and she has spent the last 7 years working for Warren County Public Schools as a staff interpreter.
Another career change happened recently after the birth of her and husband Matt's fourth baby. She is homeschooling their four young children – Oliver, 7; Aedan, 5; Ailish, 4; Amelia, 2, working at Sorenson and freelancing. In December 2020, her family moved into their new home in Auburn, KY and look forward to enjoying their family there – Go Tops!
