BISC Focus Groups

The mission of the Bioinformatics and Information Science Center at WKU is to build and maintain an interdisciplinary community, with student engagement, that will collaboratively address problems in informatics and information science.

To increase the frequency of BISC member interactions as a "community" in some common focus areas, we have created special focus groups. We have compiled these into the following groups:  (please click on a group for more information)

Information Analysis Methods. Includes:

  • Data Mining
  • Latent Semantic Analysis or Indexing
  • Network Analysis
  • Signal Processing
  • Image Processing
  • Principal Components Analysis
  • Fractal Analysis
  • Operations Research (dynamic programming)

 Modeling. Includes:

  • Machine Learning
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Regression Analysis
  • Simulations
  • Differential Equations

Bioinformatics. Includes:

  • Genomics
  • Expression analysis
  • Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS)
  • Quantitative Genetics (QTL Analysis)

Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
