Peer Mentoring and Academic Coaching

About the CEBS Peer Mentor Program

CEBS Peer Mentors are juniors and seniors who have a passion for assisting fellow Hilltoppers in navigating the university and learning about campus involvement. They are WKU student leaders who support and encourage first year and first-generation CEBS students through regular meetings and interactions.
Peer Mentors work directly with students to provide emotional support and validation; assist mentees in navigating campus systems and resources; and help their peers become more engaged in the campus community. Our Peer Mentoring Program is located in the Student Success Center in Gary Ransdell Hall.

About Academic Coaching

Generally, an academic coach works with students to prepare plans for success, including how to study better, manage time, set goals, and organize your academic life.
During an academic coaching session, a CEBS Peer Mentor will meet with you to first get to know you and your current academic situation using brief assessments and questionnaires. They will then work with you to develop a plan for studying, set academic goals, make a study schedule, and/or engage in evidence-based strategies to achieve academic success.

Is academic coaching a form of tutoring?

Not in the traditional sense. Our Peer Mentors cannot help you with specific assignments, technologies, and/or classes. If you are looking for tutoring in a specific subject, you should contact the WKU Learning Center.
