Members of the WKU community rolled up their sleeves this week to win the annual WKU vs. MTSU 100 Miles of Hope blood drive for the first time in nearly 10 years.
WKU collected 454 units of blood during this week’s blood drive at the Preston Health and Activities Center. MTSU collected 450 units for a total of 904 units.
The blood drive to benefit the American Red Cross is conducted each year before the WKU vs. MTSU football game.
Since each blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives, the impact of this year’s 100 Miles of Hope drive is 2,712 patients.
The results were announced during Thursday night’s game at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium as Hilltopper Football also took the victory over MTSU 31-10.
