WKU announces extension to scholarship acceptance deadline

Western Kentucky University is extending its scholarship acceptance deadline to May 15 for new students who plan to enroll for the fall 2024 semester, school officials announced Thursday, April 25. Previously, first-time students were asked to accept scholarship offers by May 1, but the WKU Department of Student Financial Assistance made the decision to offer students more time due to nationwide challenges resulting from changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
W. Bryson Davis, Director of Student Financial Assistance at WKU, noted that WKU is well ahead of the curve and has already issued a significant number of aid offers to incoming students with valid FAFSAs who were unaffected by processing issues. Other institutions across the nation are continuing to work through challenges presented by changes to the FASFA and are still preparing financial aid offers. “We believe that we’re in a good spot at WKU, and have already gotten aid offers into the hands of many of our incoming students” he said. “However, we know that students are still waiting on information from other institutions and we want to allow for that by extending our scholarship acceptance deadline for future Hilltoppers.”
The university began notifying students who have already received scholarship offers of the deadline extension on April 25. Students and families with questions about financial aid offers are encouraged to contact the WKU Department of Student Financial Assistance by phone at 270-745-2755 or email fa.help@wku.edu. For questions about housing, orientation or any other part of the admissions process please contact the WKU Office of Admissions by phone at 270-745-2551, by text at 270-253-4242 or email admission@wku.edu.
