2018 Kentucky National Geographic State Bee April 6

One hundred fourth- through eighth-graders from across Kentucky will compete Friday (April 6) in the 2018 National Geographic State Bee at WKU’s Knicely Conference Center, 2355 Nashville Road.
Preliminary rounds will begin at 9 a.m. with the final round at 10:30 a.m.
The State Bee is the second level of the annual National Geographic Bee. The state champion will represent Kentucky in National Geographic Bee Championship May 20-23.
To celebrate the 30th annual National Geographic Bee, the cash prize for the top three students in each state has doubled. Each state champion will receive $200, the “National Geographic Visual Atlas of the World, 2nd Edition,” and a trip to Washington, D.C., for the national event.
The final round, to be held at the National Geographic Society’s headquarters, will be moderated by journalist and humorist Mo Rocca and will be streamed at www.natgeobee.org starting May 24. The national champion will receive a $50,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the Society, which includes a lifetime subscription to National Geographic magazine, and an all-expenses-paid Lindblad expedition to the Galápagos Islands aboard the National Geographic Endeavour ll. Travel for the trip is provided by Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. The second- and third-place finishers will receive $25,000 and $10,000 college scholarships, respectively.
