WKU News

• International Education Week at WKU: WKU will celebrate International Education Week (IEW) November 3-9 with a robust calendar of nearly 20 co-curricular events and enhanced courses. A joint initiative from the U.S. Departments of Education and State, IEW is celebrated worldwide with a broad aim of highlighting the benefits of international education and exchange around the globe.
• WKU hosting 2018 Kentucky Academy of Science meeting: WKU is hosting the 104th annual meeting of the Kentucky Academy of Science today and Saturday (Nov. 2-3). Workshops, research presentations and poster sessions will be held at the Downing Student Union, third floor. Between 600 and 700 participants from Kentucky and the region are expected to attend.
• WKU CCSJ to host 'Coming to America: A Deliberative Dialogue on Immigration': The WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice invites the campus and broader community to participate in a deliberative dialogue session titled “Let’s Talk Immigration – Coming to America: A Deliberative Dialogue on Immigration” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Mahurin Honors College-International Center, room 1011.
• WKU CCSJ to host 'Social Justice Salons' lecture on Nov. 19: The WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice will host the fall semester’s final lecture in the “Social Justice Salons” series on Nov. 19. Dr. Marla Zubel of the WKU English Department will present “Cinema & Social Justice from 1968 to Present” from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Downing Student Union, room 2123.
• Traffic advisory: Marathon on Campus Sunday Morning: On Sunday (Nov. 4) from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., part of the Bowling Green 26.2 & Half Marathon will be occurring on campus. The westbound lane of University Boulevard between Normal Street and Avenue of Champions, the lane closest to campus, will be closed.  Please use caution when driving on campus Sunday morning. • WKU Offers New Online Ed.D. Program with a Specialization in Organizational Leadership: WKU’s Educational Leadership Doctoral (Ed.D.) Program now offers a specialization in Organizational Leadership online, creating a more flexible option for working professionals ready to enhance their leadership roles within education-related organizations and non-profits not classified as schools, colleges, or universities.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

WKU Sports

• Football: WKU at MTSU Tonight: The Hilltoppers are on the road tonight at Middle Tennessee. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.; the game will be nationally televised by CBS Sports Network.
• Women’s basketball: Givens, Fast-Paced Offense Push WKU Past West Virginia State, 104-74: Redshirt junior Dee Givens scored a game-high 27 points to lead six Lady Toppers in double figures as WKU rode its fast-paced offensive attack past West Virginia State, 104-74, in exhibition action inside E.A. Diddle Arena on Thursday evening. Next: WKU vs. Louisville at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
• Volleyball: WKU Set for Final Matches on The Hill: With just two home matches remaining on the 2018 slate, WKU Volleyball will close out play from E.A. Diddle Arena this weekend with contests against FIU and Florida Atlantic. On Sunday, Lady Topper seniors Rachel Anderson and Mary Martin will be recognized prior to the match. From the time doors open through the end of both weekend tilts, WKU Athletics will have bone marrow donor registry tables set up to help find a match for Alyssa Cavanaugh.
• Soccer: Four Lady Toppers Earn C-USA All-Academic Accolades: Four Lady Toppers have been selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon, with Sarah Gorham earning a First Team nod and Kaylyn Bryant, Megan Morris and Nicole Roseland each earning a spot on the Second Team.
• Tennis: WKU Heads to Chattanooga for Final Fall Tournament: Lady Topper Tennis will travel to the Chattanooga Fall Invite for WKU's final fall tournament of the season. The Red and White will compete against Chattanooga, UT Martin and Jacksonville State.
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season. More: 2018-19 Media Guide.

• Upcoming documentary will highlight health risks of asbestos: WKU graduate Bryan Lemon said he encountered some of the strongest people he’s ever known while making “Dirty Laundry,” a documentary about people affected by mesothelioma.
