- Monday, May 6th, 2019
WKU Global Learning & International Affairs congratulates more than 500 graduating global citizens in the spring Class of 2019.
The graduating class includes 120 international students from 24 countries. They will receive white stoles containing their home country’s flag at an international graduate reception at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mahurin Honors College-International Center multipurpose room.
The Class of 2019 also includes 384 domestic students who have studied abroad in a combined 38 countries. They will be wearing red stoles at graduation containing the flags of the countries where they studied. Along with receiving stoles, study abroad students place a marker on a large map in the HCIC lobby to symbolize their study abroad experience.
Within the international students graduating, five are International Student Diplomats. The Diplomats help recruit other international students, serve as a point of contact in the application process and ensure that international students have a smooth transition to WKU. There are also 13 graduating Study Abroad & Global Learning Student Representatives. The SAGL Student Reps hold weekly peer advising for future study abroad participants, advocate for study abroad programs, and mentor current exchange students.
