GM Foundation funding will be used to support GM GREEN, a partnership between community-based organizations in GM communities and the nonprofit organization Earth Force. Locally, the Center for Environmental Education and Sustainability at WKU has been coordinating GM GREEN in Bowling Green since 2005. Through the program, young people are challenged to be active community citizens, tackling water quality issues with hands-on science.
This fall, the Center is planning to facilitate stream investigations at Trammel Creek with local schools. A typical stream investigation allows the students to study the physical, chemical and biological aspects of Trammel Creek. We plan to take students from Bowling Green Independent, Russellville Independent, and Warren County Public schools in the month of September.
