Phase 2a for Durbin Project Completed; first passive home to be constructed in Summer 2014
Phase 2a for the initial road and utility infrastructure, including permeable parking and a road-length bioswale designed to help with stormwater management, was completed in fall, 2013, using EPA 319(h) funds from the KY Division of Water. The site is now ready for three homes to be constructed. In spring, 2014, the road and utility infrastructure will be extended to permit an additional 8-10 homes to be built. Community Development Block Grant funds awarded to Habitat for Humanity of Bowling Green Warren County (HFHBGWC), a principle partner on the grant, by the City of Bowling Green will be used to construct road and utility infrastructure for an additional 8-10 homes. In summer 2014, the first passive (ultra energy efficiency) home will be constructed on the site with donated funds from PNC Bank.
