The Commons at Helm Library
The Commons at Helm Library
WKU’s Helm Library has undergone a transformation to create The Commons at Helm Library—an intellectual hub where students, faculty, and staff gather to share ideas and engage in active learning. The Commons at Helm Library is a modern, multipurpose, student-centered space that…
- offers multiple dining options.
- provides individual study and collaborative work spaces for students.
- facilitates student engagement with faculty and staff in an atmosphere where ideas can be formed, shaped, and shared.
- honors the building’s history as WKU’s first basketball arena.
The Commons at Helm Library is funded through a partnership between WKU Libraries and Aramark.
"While no one graduates from the library, no one graduates without the library." - President Timothy C. Caboni
Hours of Operations and Dining
During his investiture address, WKU President Timothy C. Caboni shared his vision to create a modern, collaborative, and multipurpose space that will bring the entire WKU family together in the heart of campus. Following that address, a steering committee was formed to gather feedback from constituencies and to oversee the initiative. WKU Planning, Design & Construction partnered with the Chicago-based Gensler design firm and Luckett & Farley architecture firm of Louisville to finalize plans and schematics for the space.
