Counseling and Student Affairs
Internship (CNS 595) is an important and unique course within the Student Affairs graduate program. The course is designed to provide practical experience to students with a breadth of supervised professional practice in a variety of settings. The experience will provide students with the opportunity to engage in the reflective practitioner process as they are immersed in praxis and gain experience.
Two Internships are required in this program, resulting in a total of six hours of credit (3 hours for each course per semester). The internship course is offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. There are three options for this course: (1) relevant on-site experiences gained in at least two different placements (over two semesters); an essay option related to professional development for those employed full-time in a relevant student affairs/higher education area (can be selected for only one semester); and a research project.
For more details regarding the course, contact Dr. Monica Galloway Burke (Professor and Clinical Coordinator).
