Annual Student Teaching Recruitment Fair

Each fall semester, we hold a Student Teaching Recruitment Fair to offer a platform for school districts to promote their excellent districts with our Topper Teacher candidates. School districts are invited to the Bowling Green campus to meet and greet our Topper Teacher candidates. We try to match our teaching candidates with a school district of their choice for student teaching. After the Recruitment Fair, some students have changed their mind on where they wish to student teach. This can be a big win for some of our smaller school districts.

WKU/GRREC Job Fair

Our Job Fair is held twice a year during the fall and spring semesters. The Green River Regional Education Cooperative (GRREC) hosts our Job Fairs at the GRREC facility. All of our Topper Teacher candidates attend and are very prepared with resumes and digital professional portfolios.  Each participating school district has early access to a list of participants with individual slides and a short introductory video.

Substitute Teachers

Our Topper Teacher candidates learn about the substitute teaching opportunity during the WKU Teacher Admission Orientation. Students are encouraged to apply with their local districts after they have earned 64 credit hours. WKU promotes substitute teaching as an important way to gain valuable experience, as well as serve our communities. 

Student Teachers are allowed to serve as substitute teachers within the school district they are assigned to student teach in. Both short-term and long-term substitute teaching is allowed, on a case-by-case basis.
