Code of Conduct for Professional Education Candidates
Policy approved 9/12/07 by Professional Education CouncilCandidates for initial or advanced certification in professional education are expected to display conduct and dispositions consistent with the Kentucky Teacher Code of Ethics, discipline-specific ethical codes, the WKU Conceptual Framework [PDF], and the WKU Student Handbook at all times on campus and in field settings.
Candidates' behavior will be continuously evaluated by WKU faculty, advisors, other education professionals, and school personnel in field settings. When unprofessional or otherwise unacceptable conduct occurs, candidates will be required to meet with one or more faculty members to address their conduct. The student may be required to develop and follow a remediation plan; other sanctions may range from an informal reprimand to dismissal from Professional Education. Details regarding candidate expectations and departmental procedures for addressing problem behaviors may be obtained from the department office of the respective program area.
