- Power to most campus buildings has been restored or is functioning via backup generators.
- Information Technology Services (ITS) teams are actively working to restore networks that support campus Wi-Fi, phone systems, and the WKU website. Cell service in the area remains spotty.
- Housing & Residence Life (HRL) is working with students still on campus to determine their individual plans. Students needing to stay on campus beyond today should contact their hall director for temporary housing information.
- Students, faculty, or staff leaving campus are advised to leave using Morgantown Road or Kentucky Street/Louisville Road.
- Individuals not already on campus should not attempt to travel to campus.
12/11/21 | 10:00am: Clarification: The Warren County Sheriff’s office has recently clarified information initially provided to WKU’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) by first responders which was later referenced in a campus message.
The student fatality earlier referenced is now believed to instead be the close relative of a WKU student. Information is still arriving, but currently WKU is not aware of any fatalities within the WKU student body.
University spokesperson Jace Lux added, “Our thoughts are with all members of our broader community dealing with unimaginable pain and loss this morning, including our students who lost close family members last night.”
