On May 29th, 2015 Western Kentucky University was one of 24 colleges officially recognized by Exercise is Medicine (R) for participating in the Exercise is Medicine on Campus program.  WKU received this award for its efforts to promote healthy living across campus, for providing students with the tools and support they need to be active, and for advocating for healthy practices as a way of life at work and beyond.

Student Initiatives for Exercise is Medicine

Get Set Go is an initiative offered through Light of Chance to get school-age children in Warren County on a path to living healthier lives by teaching them about exercise and healthy food choices.
Take the Stairs is an international initiative by the ACSM Exercise is Medicine to encourage people to "take the stairs" instead of using elevators.  Our EXS students posted reminders on elevators across campus to encourage stair use.
Healthy Days is a student health fair presented each year by WellU to provide students opportunities to get involved and learn more about their health.  EXS Club members provide blood pressure screenings and offer fitness measures to students.
