Global Learning & International Affairs
Western Kentucky University has a long and rich tradition of international engagement which is represented throughout the university’s strategic plan. Global Learning and International Affairs (GLIA) works on campus and around the world to offer WKU students transformative global learning experiences. GLIA consists of two units: International Recruitment and Admissions (IRA) and Global Learning Advising and Student Services (GLASS). All GLIA units are housed in the Honors College and International Center building.
GLOBAL LEARNING ADVISING & STUDENT SERVICES
Study Abroad Advising: WKU encourages and supports all students seeking the opportunity to incorporate international academic, professional, and cross-cultural experiences into their education. WKU offers a wide variety of international education opportunities for a range of academic disciplines and budgets. Students can choose to study, intern, volunteer, student teach, conduct research abroad or participate virtually during any academic term.
International Student Advising: Supports WKU’s international students, visiting scholars, and their families through immigration advising, advocacy, cross-cultural programming, and training.
Global Learning Programming: GLIA is committed to providing global learning opportunities to the WKU campus community through cross- cultural training, global learning forums, student events, workshops, and topical discussions.
INTERNATIONAL RECRUITMENT & ADMISSIONS
International Recruitment and Admissions: IRA is committed to right-fit recruiting whether it is bringing diverse and qualified of international students to the WKU campus or connecting WKU students to global learning opportunities. This includes setting and ensuring adherence to admission standards, liaising with academic departments and colleges to establish fruitful international partnerships in support of student recruitment, and awarding scholarships.
International Pathway to Academic Success (IPAS): The IPAS is committed to international student success by delivering a specialized first-year program that offers customized courses, academic support, and co-curricular engagement to facilitate a successful transition to college life at WKU.
Global Marketing and Communications: Driven by the goals of WKU’s strategic plan, the marketing and communications unit develops and oversees a comprehensive communications plan. Through market research and data-driven strategy, GLIA provides timely information to a wide range of constituents including key support for global learning student recruitment and retention.

In an effort to create an easily accessible space, all student services, including study abroad and international student advising, are now located together on the first floor of the Mahurin Honors College and International Center (HCIC). We are so excited to serve student needs on the ground floor in suite 1014.

The WKU IPAS (WKU International Pathways to Academic Success) Program is located on the third floor. IPAS student support, study spaces, advising, and tutoring is offered in this area.
