The state currently does not require applicants pursuing licensure to have graduated with a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)-accredited master’s degree; but may require a graduate degree in a related field. In this state, there are specific requirements regarding Specifics for Practicum outlined in Licensed Mental Health Counselor Application Guide Part. B1 "40 contact hours of direct client contact experience or peer role plays…""Direct client contact experience is direct, face-to-face, clinical mental health counseling with a range of individuals, groups, couples, or families …;" “At least 10 hours of individual supervision. At least 5 hours of group supervision, with no more than 10 supervisees in a group."
Additional requirements for state licensure may include background checks, official transcripts, fees, additional coursework, training, experience, and board examination results.
