The state currently does not require applicants pursuing licensure to have graduated with a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)-accredited master’s degree; but may require a graduate degree in a related field. However, WKU's curriculum does not meet this state’s requirement for: §13858. Requirements for licensure. C. "Beginning January 1, 2020, demonstrated to the satisfaction of the board successful completion of a minimum of 12 hours of course work in family or intimate partner violence, including course work in spousal or partner abuse."

Additional requirements for state licensure may include background checks, official transcripts, fees, additional coursework, training, experience, and board examination results.
