For the second year, a group of students from WKU’s Department of Accounting took top honors in the Promote and Encourage Accounting in Kentucky (PEAK) Competition on April 26.

The PEAK Competition utilizes a Jeopardy-style experience to challenge students with knowledge of the accounting profession and the Uniform CPA Exam. WKU defeated eight other Kentucky universities during the competition, including second place Eastern Kentucky University and third place Morehead State University.

WKU students winning the competition and earning $1,000 scholarships are: Sue Byler of Bowling Green; Jeff Creech of Prospect; Jacob King of Bowling Green; Courtney Morley of Louisville, and Alisha Weber of Oakland. Faculty adviser is Ms. Sheri Henson.

“As an applied college of business, we are particularly proud that for the second consecutive year our outstanding students received the top scores in an accounting competition that challenges them on the profession they intend to pursue,” said Dr. Jeff Katz, Dean. “The strong performance by our students reflects the excellent education provided by our world-class faculty of the Gordon Ford College of Business.”
