PEAK Career Climb Takes Place October 30
- Monday, October 28th, 2013
Students will be able to begin their climb toward career success on Wednesday, October 30 at the first-ever Professional Education and Knowledge (PEAK) program Career Climb event to be held in Grise Hall from 11:30 until 4 p.m.
The Career Climb is a free event targeted to freshman and sophomore students, where they will learn about personal branding, how to utilize social media in their career development, professional image, communication skills, and networking. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to design business cards, take a professional portrait, develop a LinkedIn profile, and discuss options for internships, job shadowing, and mentoring.
Students will have the opportunity to meet more than 30 professionals in the business world– accountants, financial planners, bankers, insurance agents, etc. – to learn the tips and tricks of getting into those fields.
“PEAK represents what our College does best: engage students inside as well as outside the classroom, preparing them for long-term success as professionals in the business world,” said Jeff Katz, dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business. “The Career Climb will benefit students as they will be able to see first-hand what it takes to be a professional.”
The Career Climb event is jointly sponsored by the Gordon Ford College of Business, the WKU Center for Career and Professional Development, the WKU Division of Enrollment Management, and the WKU Police Department.
