The Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and the Gordon Ford College of Business awarded $6,000 in cash prizes to six teams who competed in the 2015 WKU Business Plan Competition.

The WKU Business Plan Competition allowed 12 student teams to give 10-minute presentations describing their business plans to a group of business professionals.  Four teams were selected to advance to Regional Competition in Owensboro at the end of March.

Winning teams were:

• Jae Craycraft with Quick Park App, $1,500
• Samantha McCormick with Taboo Dance & Fitness, $1,500
• Cody Zimmerman, with Zimmerman’s Coffee Roaster, $1,000
• Nick Leis & Lance Turpin with Science of Social, $1,000

Two teams were awarded $500 Honorable Mention prizes:

• Michael Huff with Crash Cubbies
• Stephanie Schaefer with Schaefer & Schaefer, LLC

Judges for the event were: Don Greulich, an engineering entrepreneur from Louisville; Jim Martens, a real estate entrepreneur from Bowling Green; Kyle O’Donnell, a textiles entrepreneur from Bowling Green and former state winner of the Idea State U; Jeff Hook from WKU’s Center for Research Development; Miller Slaughter from WKU’s Small Business Development Center; and Jennifer Payne, a real estate entrepreneur from Bowling Green.

“We are excited to send these students to Regional Competition,” said Dr. Dawn Bolton, Interim Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
