Glasgow, Ky. -- WKU Glasgow announces the addition of Lauren Swayne, a Barren County native, to the WKU Glasgow administrative team. Swayne has recently been named as the Student Recruitment Specialist for WKU Glasgow.
“WKU Glasgow has, for many years, enjoyed strong enrollment from a region that spans 14 counties in Kentucky and two in Tennessee,” said John Roberts, Coordinator of Student Affairs. “With many people from the aforementioned region (which includes high school students, adult learners, online learners, active military personnel, military veterans, and students transferring from other institutions of higher education) choosing WKU Glasgow as their destination for a higher education, it is important to have a strong presence within this region to help connect people with and inform people of the opportunities that can be had at WKU Glasgow – and WKU in general. Therefore, Lauren’s role is highly important in regards to serving the people of the communities in our region.”
Swayne, a graduate of Glasgow High School, completed an undergraduate degree at Eastern Kentucky University and a graduate degree from the University of Kentucky.
“I am extremely excited to be back home and recruiting for WKU Glasgow! I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work in the community I grew up in. Glasgow is a very special place and I am looking forward to bringing more students to our campus in Glasgow,” Swayne said.
Swayne is entering into this position with four years of recruitment experience at Georgetown College where she served as an Admissions Counselor and recruited for the college in eastern Kentucky – Swayne’s territory spanned over 40 counties.
“My experience and time at Georgetown College will benefit my recruitment efforts for WKU Glasgow,” said Swayne. “Parts of the territory I recruited in while at Georgetown College will overlap with my territory here. I built relationships in these counties with students, counselors and individuals in those communities; those relationships will be helpful and beneficial in regards to my recruitment efforts for WKU.”
Swayne will be serving as WKU Glasgow’s representative in Barren County, Metcalfe County, Monroe County, Cumberland County, Clinton County and Edmonson County.
“We are extremely excited to have Lauren join us on the WKU campus in Glasgow,” said Dr. Sally Ray, Regional Chancellor for the university’s Glasgow campus. “Lauren’s education, training and experience made her the best candidate for this position, and I believe Lauren will be a valuable resource for anyone choosing to further their education or advance their career through WKU. She is very genuine in her approach and sincere in her desire to help guide people in our region to a post-secondary education; so, I believe she will be well received.”
“In my role, I hope to bring more students to WKU Glasgow for an incredible college experience in a community that I truly love,” Swayne said.
