Beta Alpha Psi Chapter Receives Superior Status
- Tuesday, October 18th, 2016
WKU’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi has been recognized as a Superior Chapter by the international honor society. For its efforts, the chapter will receive an award of $500 from the KPMG Foundation.
“Recognition as a Superior Chapter is a significant accomplishment,” said Merle Hopkins, BAP International President. “Under the leadership of Sheri Henson, the Eta Omicron Chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism, and leadership.”
To achieve Superior Chapter status, the WKU chapter hosts numerous professional events such as Meet the Firms; workshops and seminars; and student recruitment events.
“The Department of Accounting supports the Beta Alpha Psi chapter because all of its activities support our mission of providing excellent accounting education and preparing students for successful and rewarding careers in accounting and business,” said Dr. Harold Little, chair of the department.
The WKU chapter has earned Superior Chapter status for at least the past 12 years. The fall 2015 president was Zane Ramey and the spring 2016 president was Sayrah Jones.
“We are proud of our Beta Alpha Psi members for their pursuit of accounting education excellence,” said Dr. Jeffrey Katz, dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business. “As an applied College of business, the GFCB prides itself on providing professional associations that meet the needs of its students.”
Beta Alpha Psi seeks to recognize and encourage scholastic and professional excellence in the accounting field. The WKU Eta Omicron Chapter was founded in 1988.
