Top Economics Students Inducted Into Honor Society
- Monday, March 27th, 2017
The WKU chapter of the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society in Economics inducted 30 students during its annual initiation banquet held Friday, March 24.
These inductees join college students in 678 chapters across the world in recognition of scholastic attainment in economics. Students who are invited to membership in ODE must have completed 12 credit hour of economics courses, have attained a 3.0 GPA or better in those economics courses, and have an overall 3.0 GPA.
Keith McGregory, Senior Vice President of Institutional Sales at Drexel Hamilton in Chicago served as the keynote speaker for the evening. He challenged the students to be open minded, to not allow fear to rule their careers, to develop meaningful relationships, and to have passion for whatever career path they choose. McGregory is a 1987 Economics graduate of the Gordon Ford College of Business as well as a GFCB Business Executive Advisory Council member.
“Qualifying for and accepting membership in ODE is a way students can reward themselves for their own hard work and dedication in their studies,” said Dr. Cathy Carey, Chair of the Department of Economics. “It also tells employers and graduate schools that these students are at the top of their class.”
