WKU Student to Compete in e-Fest National Business Plan Competition
- Monday, April 3rd, 2017
WKU entrepreneurship student Muamer Razic was selected to compete in “e-Fest,” a competition that will award more than $200,000 in grants and scholarships for the best undergraduate business ideas during the weekend of April 6-8 in Minneapolis.
The e-Fest competition is the largest undergraduates-only business plan competition and is co-sponsored by the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship, Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, and EIX.org, an online learning platform for entrepreneurs, students, and professors.
Razic will compete with his Level Lacrosse business against 24 other student teams from universities around the United States. Level Lacrosse provides a custom analytical tool called The Feeder that provides a tool for players, coaches, and parents to track player growth and improvement in that sport.
“Being able to compete against some of the best entrepreneurial minds from all over the United States is a remarkable opportunity,” Razic said. “The experience and knowledge that will be at a national competition will allow me to test myself against the best of the best and continue to hone my abilities and find ways to improve.”
The Level Lacrosse business plan has already garnered awards on a local and state level. Razic is a winner in the WKU Business Plan Competition, WKU Topper Tank, Bucks for Bright Ideas, and most recently earned $1,000 in the Regional Idea State U Business Plan Competition.
“The Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation faculty and I are very excited to have one of our WKU Business Plan Finalists chosen to compete at such a high level,” said Dr. Dawn Bolton, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation in the Gordon Ford College of Business. “We are proud of all of our hardworking students, but especially those who are recognized by entities outside of the university. Working with entrepreneurs like Muamer is exactly what our Center is designed to do.”
“The Gordon Ford College of Business has a long history of supporting entrepreneurial-minded students,” said Dr. Jeff Katz, Dean of the College. “We are excited to be able to support students as they pursue their dreams.”
The e-Fest competition features guest speakers such as Daymond John, founder of FUBU clothing and a regular investor on the ABC-TV show “Shark Tank,” and Richard Schulze, founder of Best Buy.
“Getting to hear from Daymond John and Richard Schulze – two guys who have shown their expertise over and over again – is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Razic said.
