Accounting Students Place Third in PEAK Competition
- Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017
A group of accounting students from WKU’s Gordon Ford College of Business captured third place in the annual PEAK Competition, held April 28 and sponsored by the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants.
PEAK is a Jeopardy-style competition that provides college students the opportunity to test their knowledge of the accounting profession. WKU competed against 10 other schools across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Participants were: Alex Bishop of Nashville, Grant Rohleder of Louisville, Phuong (Sam) Le of Vietnam, and Hai (Jack) Nguyen of Vietnam. Rebecca Zimberg of Nashville served as first alternate while Allie Romans of Bowling Green served as second alternate. Ms. Sheri Henson, Accounting Instructor, is the PEAK faculty adviser.
“We are particularly proud of the strong performance by our accounting students. The knowledge of these students reflects the excellent education provided by our world-class faculty,” said Dr. Jeff Katz, Dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business.
“Students volunteer for the team and study on their own time,” said Dr. Harold Little, Chair of the Department of Accounting. “As younger accounting majors competing against graduating senior accounting majors from others schools, our team performed extremely well. Each member is a source of pride for the WKU Accounting Department.”
