WKU junior Charlotte Briggs of Lexington has been selected as the recipient of the WKU Library Student Assistant Scholarship for fall 2017. Briggs is a nursing major and carries a grade point average of 3.95. She has been working in the libraries since spring of 2016 and works in Distance Education Library Services.
“(Charlotte) has been an excellent employee,” said Elisabeth Knight, associate professor at WKU libraries and Distance Education Library Services Coordinator. “She is a hard worker, and has a fine telephone presence, an essential qualification for the job. She has also been a very good student, dedicated to her studies as well as to her job responsibilities, and has always taken her employment very seriously.”
In addition to her major and job on campus, Briggs is an active member of the Christian Student Fellowship, serving as a bible study leader. She plays basketball and softball intramurals and is a part of the Kentucky Association of Nursing Students (KANS).
“As a junior at Western, I have worked very hard these past three years to keep my GPA at a high level while paying myself through college on my own,” said Briggs. “I have been very fortunate so far to have as many opportunities as I do…I will use this scholarship well to further my education at WKU to become the best representative of this school, specifically this library.”
The scholarship is sponsored through funding from the Friends of WKU Libraries. For information on the Friends program, go to www.wku.edu/library and click on “Support Us.”
