• WKU online programs earn national rankings from U.S. News & World Report: In its annual ranking of the best online degree programs, U.S. News & World Report has named WKU among the top schools nationwide in five areas.
• 4 Gatton Academy Students Receive Scholastic Art & Writing Awards: The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition has recognized four Gatton Academy students for their poetry entries.
• Author Roxane Gay speaks at Van Meter Hall on Feb. 8: Roxane Gay, author of Difficult Women and Marvel’s World of Wakanda, will be speaking at Van Meter Hall on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. CST as part of WKU’s Cultural Enhancement Series.
• 2018 Winter Weather Communications Plan: Check out a reminder about WKU’s winter weather communications plan that provides a number of ways you can find out if classes are delayed, canceled or if a campus is closed.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. • Women’s basketball: WKU Holds Off Second-Half Surge in 74-64 Win at Louisiana Tech: C-USA Player of the Year candidate Tashia Brown scored a game-high 26 points and WKU held off a second-half charge against Louisiana Tech on Sunday afternoon to earn a 74-64 win on the road inside the Thomas Assembly Center. Next: WKU (16-5, 7-1 C-USA) will return to E.A. Diddle Arena for the first time since Jan. 18 when the Lady Toppers host Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m. Saturday.
• Men’s basketball: Late Run Leads Hilltoppers to 85-74 Win Over Marshall: WKU sent an over-capacity E.A. Diddle Arena into hysterics Saturday night, scoring the last 15 points of the game to pull out an 85-74 home victory over Marshall. Next: WKU (15-6, 7-1 C-USA) heads back on the road this week for a two-game swing to Texas, starting at UTEP at 9 p.m. CT Thursday in El Paso, Texas.
• Tennis: Outnumbered Lady Toppers Drop 5-2 Decision at Louisville: Still shorthanded due to illness, WKU Tennis dropped a 5-2 decision at Louisville to wrap up weekend play. A day after defeating UTEP 4-1 in their Conference USA opener, the Lady Toppers (1-2; 1-0 C-USA), suffered their second loss to a Power 5 squad this season as the Cardinals improved to 5-0 on the year. Next: WKU at UAB on Feb. 9.
• Track & Field: Continued Improvements Help WKU to 17 Top-Eight Performances on Weekend: With 17 top-eight performances over the last two days, WKU Track & Field has another weekend of competition in the books after sending representatives to two meets. Julius Morris headed to the A-State Invite and Multis where he secured one of the Hilltoppers' 17 top-eight showings while the remainder of the squad visited Bloomington, Ind., for the two-day Indiana University Relays.
• Football: White, Yelder Showcase WKU in Senior Bowl: Former WKU stars Mike White and Deon Yelder each contributed to scores while White stole the show at quarterback leading his South team to a 45-16 victory over the North in the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl.

• Firefighters get waist-deep in farm rescue training: Warren County volunteer firefighter Tyler Scudder dove waist-deep into his safety training Saturday morning. Scudder, with the Browning Fire Department, sunk to his beltline in corn as part of farm safety training for all Warren County fire departments Saturday at the WKU Agriculture Exposition Center.
• WKU enters February in prime position to challenge for a championship: Through the toughest part of its conference schedule, WKU has come out glistening while positioning itself to be smack dab in the middle of what appears to be a fantastic fight to the finish line in the race for a championship. The Hilltoppers (15-6, 7-1 Conference USA) head into the month of February 1/2-game back of Middle Tennessee in the league standings and tied with Old Dominion as one of three teams with just one league loss. They’ve also matched last season’s win total with at least 11 games to go.
• Jack Doyle becomes first Hilltopper to play in the Pro Bowl: Former WKU tight end Jack Doyle became the first Hilltopper to ever play in the Pro Bowl while helping the American Football Conference to a 24-23 win Saturday in Orlando, Fla. Doyle had two receptions for 17 yards. The five-year NFL veteran was representing the Indianapolis Colts in his first-ever all-star game appearance.

• Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2. The 10-night cruise across the Baltic Sea aboard Marina will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops in Berlin, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Stockholm, Sweden.
