- Institute for Rural Health receives grant from Delta Dental of Kentucky: The Institute for Rural Health, part of WKU’s College of Health and Human Services, has received a $20,000 grant from Delta Dental of Kentucky’s philanthropic initiative, Making Smiles Happen.
- White Squirrel Weather included in top 100 social media list: A student-run meteorology group at WKU has been included in the top 100 meteorology social media accounts by AtmoLife. White Squirrel Weather is an applied research, professional student service-learning initiative at WKU comprised largely of students who have each devoted their efforts toward providing focus-based real-time observations and forecast weather content to the WKU campus and community for the purposes of hazards mitigation, and emergency preparedness and management.
- WKU CCSJ to host Deliberative Dialogue on Safety & Justice: The WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice will host a Deliberative Dialogue on Safety & Justice in partnership with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, utilizing the WKU Chief Diversity Officer's T.R.U.T.H. Talk Series (True Racial Understanding Through Honest Talks), which was designed to keep the campus community talking about issues of race, diversity, equity and inclusion.
- 2018 Winter Weather Communications Plan: Check out a reminder about WKU’s winter weather communications plan that provides a number of ways you can find out if classes are delayed, canceled or if a campus is closed.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Look for Fifth Straight Road Win at UTEP: WKU Hilltopper Basketball begins a stretch of 6 of 10 games on the road to end the regular season at UTEP at 9 CT tonight in El Paso, Texas. The Hilltoppers are a half-game back of the C-USA lead after beating Marshall 85-74 at home Saturday. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
- Women’s basketball: Brown Named One of 10 National Finalists for Cheryl Miller Award: Tashia Brown, one of the top candidates for C-USA Player of the Year, has been named one of the 10 finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's 2018 Cheryl Miller Award, presented annually to the top Division I small forward in the nation. Brown is the first player in both WKU and C-USA history to be named a finalist for the prestigious award, named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and 1995 Hall of Fame inductee. The Lake Park, Ga., native is currently averaging 23.1 points per game, the best mark among all C-USA players and the sixth-best total nationally among Division I players.
- Track & Field: Ryan Walling Joins Hilltopper Staff as Distance Coach: WKU Track & Field head coach Erik Jenkins has announced the hiring of Ryan Walling as an assistant coach who will work primarily with the Hilltopper distance runners. Walling, a native of Cary, N.C., joins the Red and White following his time at Ole Miss where he mentored 10 NCAA First-Team All-American finishers.

- Local celebrities to paint bowls for fundraiser: Roughly a month before the sixth annual Empty Bowls event, well-known local people, including WKU President Timothy C. Caboni, WKU Athletic Director Todd Stewart and Bowling Green Independent School District Superintendent Gary Fields, will paint bowls that will be auctioned for the fundraiser.
- Traditional Japanese drum show promises loud, energetic presence: Van Meter Hall will shake and tremble Friday amid the percussive attack of an outfit that uses massive traditional Japanese drums as its weapons. Yamato, a Japanese ensemble that plays music primarily on Taiko drums, a well-established musical tradition in the group’s homeland, will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. as part of WKU’s Cultural Enhancement Series.
- One week from signing day, WKU looking to solidify already strong class: WKU is one week away from signing day – and one week away from building on the recruiting momentum it established in December. Second-year coach Mike Sanford signed 15 players Dec. 20 – 13 of whom made their signings public – in what was considered at that time the top recruiting class in Conference USA by all major recruiting sites. Going into Feb. 7, national signing day for college football, WKU’s class is ranked second behind Southern Mississippi on Rivals and third on 247sports.

- Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2. The 10-night cruise across the Baltic Sea aboard Marina will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops in Berlin, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Stockholm, Sweden.
