• WKU senior's 'Icelandic Sketches' to premiere at Earth Day concert: As part of WKU Choral Activities’ Earth Day concert on April 22, the WKU Chorale will present the world premiere of "Icelandic Sketches: Stories of Climate, Tourism and Change," a composition by senior Jason Fox of Russellville.
• WKU team second in Imperial Barrel Award regional contest: A team of WKU Geography & Geology students won second place in the 2018 Eastern Regional in the prestigious Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) program.
• First Jeff and Mary Key Scholarship Recipient Named at Elizabethtown Presidential Welcome Reception: Jeff and Mary Key hosted the Presidential Welcome Reception for the WKU Heartland Alumni Chapter honoring President Timothy C. Caboni. The event also featured the awarding of the first Jeff and Mary Key Scholarship to Lauren Sisk, a senior at Central Hardin High School.
• Two WKU grads named Pulitzer winners: On Monday The Cincinnati Enquirer won the Pulitzer Prize for local reporting for the project ‘Seven Days of Heroin.’ Of the 60 contributors to this massive project, two are WKU graduates Cara Owsley, director of photography, and Cameron Knight, a breaking news reporter.
• Junior Awarded Two Scholarships from Gender and Women’s Studies: Communication Sciences and Disorders Junior Jordan Frodge has been awarded the Catherine C. Ward Undergraduate Scholarship and the Valere Scott Undergraduate Scholarship from WKU’s Department of Gender and Women’s Studies (GWS).
• WKU Traffic Advisory: LifeSkills Run for Autism Road Closings: The LifeSkills Run for Autism will affect access to campus beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday (April 21).  The route will travel up Kentucky Street, following University Boulevard, Normal Street, Regents Avenue, and down Chestnut Street. • 10 Hilltoppers work together as nurses to help medically complex children: The Kidz Club (TKC) is a Medicaid-licensed Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care facility (PPEC) that takes care of children from birth up to 21 years of age who have medical diagnoses that require skilled nursing. TKC offers various locations in Kentucky and beyond, but 80 percent of the staff members at the Bowling Green location are WKU graduates. This equates to nine Registered Nurses, one Community Relations Coordinator and three WKU Nursing or Teaching students.
• Mr. Science Jason Lindsey motivates kids and gets them “Hooked on Science”: In December 2017, Mr. Science himself, Jason Lindsey (’00) of Paducah, Ky., made a stop at Jody Richards Elementary School in Bowling Green to put on a hands-on-science program for more than 300 kids. “I’ve developed hands-on science programs, which get kids excited about learning science,” explained Lindsey. “My goal is to make a connection between having fun and learning science. When the kids are having fun, I sneak in the science when they are least expecting it, which helps kids master science concepts.”
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Women’s golf: Clarke Comeback Leads Lady Toppers in Day Two of C-USA Championship: WKU freshman Megan Clarke led the way for the Lady Toppers in Tuesday's second round of the Conference USA Championship, while senior Georgina Blackman continued her success on the course. Blackman and Clarke stand tied for third and sixth, respectively, through day two while the Lady Toppers are sixth in the team standings. The final round begins this morning.
• Softball: No. 18 Kentucky Headed to The Hill This Evening: No. 18 Kentucky is headed to The Hill for a 6 p.m. CT tilt today from the WKU Softball Complex. With a standing-room only crowd expected, the gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for spectators. All tickets will be general admission and fans are advised to arrive early to ensure a seat.
• Baseball: Rhinesmith Homers, Steals in 10-1 Loss to Golden Eagles: Jacob Rhinesmith hit a home run and stole a base for WKU Baseball, but the Hilltoppers dropped a 10-1 decision to Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles extended the longest win streak in the nation to 21 straight. Next: WKU at UAB for a weekend series.
• Tennis: Malamou Named to C-USA All-Academic Team: WKU graduate senior Elpida Malamou was named to the 2018 InTouch Credit Union All-Academic Team for women's tennis, announced by Conference USA on Tuesday. Malamou is one of two Lady Topper Tennis players to earn all-academic honors since WKU joined C-USA, the other being her former teammate Andreanna Christopoulou.
• Track & Field: Hayes Named C-USA Men's Track Athlete of the Week: WKU Track and Field's Austin Hayes was named the Conference USA Men's Track Athlete of the Week following a stellar showing at the Governors Invitational, the league office announced Tuesday.

WKU in the News

• WKU students earn big ROI in competition: A team of WKU students, after plotting strategy, analyzing arcane statistics and working together on important decisions, has finished among the top universities in the Southeast. Some 20 WKU students, made up of classes in the university’s Gordon Ford College of Business finance department, bought and sold stocks during the 2017 calendar year and came away with a 29.25 percent return in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Investment Challenge Program that covers a seven-state region.
