Groundhog Day Shadowing Event

The American College of Healthcare Executives Kentucky Chaper (KACHE) coordinateda Groundhog Day Shadowing Event on February 2. The event was a unique opportunity for Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA) students to experience firsthand the "Day in the life" of a hospital administrator, and hopefully form lasting relationships.
Terri Cunningham, Marketing Coordinator for WKU Health Services shadowed John Harryman,President of Norton Suburban & Northeast Market Hospital in Louisville, KY. Norton Suburban hospital is afull-service 373 bed community hospital that offers inpatient and outpatient medical/surgical care and diagnostic services. Norton Suburban is the leading provider of obstetric services in the state of Kentucky and specializes in women's services and cancer care.
During the day, Terri was introduced to several administrators, doctors, and employees. She had the privilege to take part in meetings with the HR Director, Physician Relations Manager, and Patient Services Excellence Manager. Terri appreciated the opportunity to meet and talk with Jason Gundstrom, Service Excellence Manager. Jason discussed his role with conducting patient satisfaction surveys, quality reports,and effective orientation training for new Norton employees.
"The opportunity to network and participate in events like this is invaluable. Having the chance to see the president engage with his staff was a phenomenal experience. He treated everyone kindly and with the utmost respect regardless of their position within the organization" said Cunningham.
