The Panhellenic Council of WKU has selected the recipients of the 2018-2019 Panhellenic Scholarships -- Madison Sennett of Alpha Xi Delta, New Member Scholarship; Haley Doerr of Kappa Delta, United in Sisterhood Scholarship; and Claire Kaelin of Delta Zeta, Panhellenic Pillars Scholarship.

Each scholarship totals $400, with $200 awarded to the recipient in the fall semester and $200 awarded in the spring semester.

In December 2017, the Panhellenic Council made a donation to help the scholarships reach endowment level, which guarantees that the scholarships will exist in perpetuity.

A Scholarship Planning Committee was then formed, consisting of one representative from each of the Panhellenic sororities on campus. Over the course of the Spring 2018 semester, the committee met and created applications for each of the three scholarships. The committee decided on requirements, application questions and how the selection process would work. The Scholarship Planning Committee consisted of Ashley Owens of Chi Omega, Catherine Hines of Phi Mu, Ceceley Ford of Alpha Xi Delta, Baleigh Lawson of Omega Phi Alpha, Amy Wyer of Alpha Gamma Delta, Bailey Morris of Alpha Delta Pi, Sarah Caraher of Delta Zeta, Maria Long of Sigma Kappa, Anna Siewers of Kappa Delta, and Ashley Duckworth of Alpha Omicron Pi.

The Scholarship Planning Committee decided that a separate selection committee would be the best avenue for the recipients to be chosen. The Scholarship Selection Committee consisted of Panhellenic President Cejay Moore of Alpha Gamma Delta; 1^st Vice President Harlee Havens of Omega Phi Alpha, 2^nd Vice President Hannah Beth Brackin of Alpha Delta Pi, and Scholarship Director Yasmine Sadrinia of Sigma Kappa.

The Scholarship Selection Committee reviewed each application closely and considered many factors when choosing the recipients. Grade point average, involvement within the applicant’s own organization and within the Greek community as a whole, and the applicant’s responses to essay questions all were considered and discussed during the selection process.

Applications will reopen in the Spring 2019 semester to take submissions for the recipients of the 2019-2020 Panhellenic Scholarships.
