Dr. Allie McCreary recently pulished an article in the journal Current Issues in Tourism documenting how to use social media data to better understand visitors' image (the components of a destination that visitors save and/or share with family and friends). The qualitative analysis of social media data presented in the article is a rapid, and low cost, method of ascertaining destination image which can be used to inform place-based management and marketing for recreation areas.
