Jataun Isenhower, health educator and TopperWell members Christina Hickey and Erin Eaton presented and updated the staff about the BACCHUS annual conference. The General Assembly Conference was in Indianapolis, In, November 4-7, 2010. Members who attended included: Erin Eaton, President; Christina Hickey, VP of Membership; Audrey Fowler, Social and Recruitment Chair; Amber Ashby, Special Events Chair.

BACCHUS is a network of more than 32,000 student leaders and advisors who work with over eight million peers on more than 900 campuses throughout the world. Our affiliates are found on more than two thirds of four-year public colleges and universities, a large number of private and two-year institutions, and 19% of historically Black colleges and universities, predominantly Hispanic population campuses, and tribal colleges.

Conference objectives for students attending the General Assembly:

• Students will increase understanding and knowledge about peer education and prevention strategies.
• Students will increase knowledge on (one or more) health and safety issues impacting college students.
• Students will increase networking ability with local, regional, and national campus contacts
• Students will identify personal leadership strengths and strategies to improve leadership skills
• Students will improve peer education skills (listening, referring, programming, promoting, etc.)

Learning outcomes that correspond to outcomes identified in Learning Reconsidered (2004) for students attending General Assembly

Civic Engagement- Students will identify at least one new program they would like to implement on their campus or in their community

Practical Competence-Students will identify at least one new event promotion idea to implement on their campus

Interpersonal/Intrapersonal Competence-Students will learn the names of 5 other students from 5 other campuses

Knowledge Acquisition, Integration and Application-Students will become familiar with 4 professional speakers who support student leadership on health and safety issues

TopperWell has been selected to present two (2) programs at the University of Miami Ohio in Oxford, OH during the BACCHUS Area 7 Conference on April 1-2, 2011. The BACCHUS Area 7 Conference includes schools in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. There are 71 schools in Area 7.

Area 7 TopperWell Program Presentations:

"Knock Out Stress"
Knock Out Stress is a interactive program that allows students to relieve stress. During the program Peer Educators will learn the tools to run an interactive stress program. Participants will undergo mini workshops on Drawing Out Stress, Managing their time, and Meditation techniques. Peer Educators will leave with tools they can use to implement at their school.

"Implementing Social Norms through the Stall Street Journal"
