WKU Forensics Team member Andre Swai, a freshman from Springfield, Missouri, won top speaker at the NFA Lincoln-Douglas Debate Grand Prix in a virtual setting.
Hosted June 6-7 by Missouri State University, the capstone tournament is designed to be one of the most challenging and rigorous competitions of the season. This year, the tournament also was a proving ground for hosting debate competitions using video conferencing technology.
While most of the team members are well into their summer routines and unable to participate, Swai agreed to be the sole competitor from WKU and did not disappoint.
Competing against students from The University of California, Berkeley, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Penn State University and The University of California, Los Angeles, Swai managed to reach elimination debates.
Results from the First Annual NFA Lincoln-Douglas Debate Grand Prix are as follows:
- Andre Swai, a freshman from Springfield, Missouri, fifth in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, top debate speaker.
