Students from WKU’s Forensics Team will host the 2018 Black Excellence Exposition, a free public performance at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Downing Student Union Auditorium. The event will include dance by The MajorRedz, the voices of Essence in Harmony, and poetry and oration by members of the Forensics Team.

Coordinated this year by student Lyric Davis, the event will include the following members of the Forensics Team performing selections that they are using this year for competition:

• Andrea Ambam, a junior from Peculiar, Missouri, performing duo interpretation with Lyric Davis.
• Quest Broussard, a freshman from Delcambre, Louisiana, performing programmed oral interpretation.
• Lyric Davis, a senior from Blue Springs, Missouri, performing duo interpretation with Andrea Ambam.
• Durwan Green, a senior from Lewisville, Texas, performing poetry interpretation.
• Asha Wasuge, a senior from Irvine, California, performing prose interpretation.
• Symone Whalin, a freshman from Sonora, performing after-dinner speaking.

Originally created in 2016 by then-student Malik Badjie, the Black Excellence Exposition is an annual student-created and student-run performance to provide a stage for black voices by members of the WKU Forensic Team, as well as others from the university and the surrounding community. The Forensics Team video records all of its public performances, and will provide a video of this event on its YouTube channel at a later date.
