WKU has been recognized as a 2017 Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. WKU has received the designation for promoting healthy trees and engaging students in staff in the spirt of conservation each year since 2010.
To obtain the distinction, WKU met the five core standards for an effective campus forest management, including establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects.
WKU’s campus forest includes more than 3,400 trees, including more than 100 species.
