WKU Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Aspire to reach new heights with a degree that equips you to be successful in a rapidly expanding field! The goal of the WKU BSN program is to provide an accessible, high quality Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program to meet the needs of both students and the nursing workforce. The BSN program at WKU provides training in areas such as communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills, all of which are becoming more important as nursing practice becomes more complex.

Admission to the BSN program is competitive and requires a separate application. Enrollment is limited and based on student qualifications, availability of faculty, and clinical resources. The traditional BSN program is a full-time, four semester, upper division option designed for students who have completed a minimum of 63 credits and required pre-requisite courses.  Pre-nursing (586P) advising is provided by the College of Health & Human Services professional staff advisors within the Advising & Career Development Center, DSU Suite 2001.

Supervised clinical experience is provided in the hospital departments such as pediatrics, psychiatric, maternity, and surgery. In addition to the hospital setting, our students receive clinical experience in nursing homes, schools and health departments, all leading to a broader knowledge based student nurse.

Graduates of the BSN program qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), the licensure examination for eligibility to become a registered nurse.
