School of Nursing Faculty and Staff

Mr. Matthew Atkinson is an instructor in the School of Nursing at WKU.  He earned is Baccalaureate in Nursing in 1999 and a Masters of Science Degree in Nursing Education in 2014, both from Western Kentucky University.

Mr. Atkinson has worked in areas such as trauma, E.D., cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology, and WKU Health Services.  He also has taught at the WKU SON as an adjunct professor and at Bowling Green High School teaching CNA, phlebotomy, EKG, and introduction to health science classes.  Mr. Atkinson began his new role as a full-time faculty member teaching Introduction to Professional Nursing, Physical Examination & Health Assessment, and assisting with simulation labs for Medical Surgical Nursing I during the spring term of 2020.
