Dr. Bragg-Underwood began her nursing career as an LPN in 1996. She then graduated from Western Kentucky University with the following degrees: Associate in Nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing Education, post-master certificates in Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Doctorate in Nursing Practice. As of July1 2023 she became the graduate nursing program coordinator for the SONAH.
Her teaching career began in 2007 as an instructor of Nursing in the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS). In 2009, she came to Western Kentucky University to teach in the Associate of Nursing program. She then transitioned to the RN to BSN program, and currently teaches in the Graduate Nursing Program, specifically, MEPN, DNP and Master Entry to Professional Nursing Coordinator (MEPN). Prior to teaching, Dr. Bragg-Underwood was employed as a nurse in medical-surgical nursing, home health, long term acute care, management, and primary care. She continues to practice as a nurse practitioner part-time in the community.
Dr. Bragg-Underwood is a member of the ANA/Kentucky Nurses Association, the National League for Nursing, Kentucky League for Nursing, and the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners & Nurse Midwives.
