School of Nursing Faculty and Staff

Dr. Vickie Shoumake is an instructor in the School of Nursing.  She has earned an Associate Degree in Nursing,  Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing, Master of Science Degree in Nursing Education and Doctor of Nursing Practice from WKU.  Dr. Shoumake began her teaching career in January 2012 at WKU in the ASN program.  Prior to teaching, Dr. Shoumake worked as a Registerd Nurse in medical surgical nursing, as well as, geriatrics.  She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing.

Her research interests include Stereotypes and Attitudes of Nurses toward Geriatric Patients; Improving nursing student success, Improving study skills and test taking techniques; and Polypharmacy in the elderly.
