Happy LGBTQ+ History Month!
- Tuesday, October 5th, 2021
Campus Community & Happy Fall,
October marks our month-long celebration of LGBTQ+ history. The Intercultural Student Engagement Center (ISEC) and the PRIDE Center have several educational (and fun) activities planned for the month. For more information on these campus events, including PRIDE Camp, Queer Prom, National Coming Out Day (and, more…), visit WKU’s LGBTQ+ History Month website (flyer attached). The month’s celebration will culminate with the annual Bowling PRIDE Festival at Circus Square Park, Saturday October 23, noon-5pm. Admission is FREE and open to the public. There will also be an inclusive rainbow flag hung at HCIC in honor of the achievements and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
Note: Each month there are a host of “awareness days.” Please see the WKU DEI Celebrations & Awareness Days Calendar for a list of monthly celebration.
IMPORTANT: The Call for Proposals for the Council on Post-secondary Education’s (CPE) Higher EDquity Conference have been posted. There is a short turn-around, so if you are interested in presenting, please act now – they are due Oct. 22, by 4p.m. The conference will be held at right here at WKU, Nov 16, 2021, from 9am-3:45pm. Proposal submissions are open to faculty, staff, AND students. Don’t want to present? That’s fine, too! As soon as the registration site is up, we’ll send a link. Since the conference will be hosted by us, on our campus, this is a good time for us to shine! Submit your proposals here (http://cpe.ky.gov/higheredquity/proposals.html).
Have a good month and Happy PRIDE!
