Eligibility and Expectations - Catalyst Cohort in the MHC
Who is eligible for the Catalyst Cohort?
Eligible scholars are any combination of first-generation college students, Pell Grant-eligible college students, and/or minority students who will begin full-time undergraduate study at WKU in Fall 2024. They must be admitted to the Mahurin Honors College or "Honors eligible," as determined by a 3.2+ GPA.

In subsequent years through graduation, Catalyst Cohort scholars commit to peer mentorship of younger Catalyst Cohort scholars and occasional programming, including scholar development seminars. Every participants is expected to work with the Office of Scholar Development throughout their undergraduate studies.
What restrictions are there for Catalyst Cohort funding?
Upon successful completion of the one-credit course (HON 175), Catalyst Cohort scholars gain access to guaranteed funding for undergraduate research and study abroad in their second year. The funding is awarded based on a proposal form submitted to the Honors Development Board in the Mahurin Honors College, and it is applied to the scholar's WKU TopNet billing account in the corresponding term. To be eligible for funding, Catalyst Cohort scholars must maintain good standing in the Mahurin Honors College.
