Christian Howard earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science (Class of 2018) before graduating in 2019 with a Master’s in Public Administration and a Certificate in Local Government Administration. Christian was the first student to participate in the MPA JUMP (Joint Undergraduate Masters Program) program which allowed him to earn graduate credit, while still an undergraduate student.

Christian credits his time at WKU with giving him many of the skills needed to succeed in his current position. Christian said, “one thing that my Political Science degree and my MPA both gave me was a deep appreciation for understanding the facts of a situation and how important it is to understand problems from all sides.” He says his education at WKU helped “provide him the skills he needs to navigate in a complex world and serve a wide array of people in his position within local government.” He was able to hone many of those skills while interning with Class of 2017 MPA alum Jennifer Breiwa Smith in the WKU President’s Office.

Christian currently serves a research and data coordinator for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and is working to ensure that the local workforce is able to meet the demands of a growing economy. His work for the Economic Development Team contributes to bringing new businesses and jobs to South Central Kentucky to help spur economic growth as well as helps local businesses understand the current economic landscape to help foster economic development in already established local businesses.
